What is bubbletea? |
---|
Bubble tea, also known as boba tea, is a Taiwanese beverage that features "bubbles" in the form of chewy or popping toppings. It is typically made by blending tea (black, green, or oolong) with milk or fruit flavours and served with chewy tapioca pearls or other toppings like jelly, popping boba, or pudding. The drink is shaken or blended to create a frothy texture and is usually served cold, though hot versions are also available. The base of bubble tea is tea, which can be sweetened or unsweetened, or a milk/fruit-based blend. Toppings such as tapioca pearls are the most common, but popping boba is very popular in Belgium. Sweeteners range from sugar syrup to honey or sweetened condensed milk, with customisation options to suit personal preferences. Bubble tea is served in a cup with a wide straw to allow the toppings to pass through. |
What is popping boba and what is tapioca? What do they consist of? |
---|
Popping boba and tapioca pearls are popular toppings in bubble tea, but they are quite different in texture, flavour, and composition. |
Popping boba is a topping made of fruit juice enclosed in a thin, gel-like shell, which bursts when bitten into, releasing the juice inside. Popping boba is often sweet and comes in a variety of flavours, such as mango, strawberry, lychee, and passionfruit. It adds a fun, juicy texture to bubble tea. |
Tapioca pearls are chewy, gummy spheres made from tapioca starch, which is derived from the cassava root. The pearls are typically boiled with brown sugar and water, creating a sweet, slightly caramelised flavour. Tapioca pearls are known for their unique, chewy texture and are a traditional topping in bubble tea. |
What is taiyaki? |
---|
Taiyaki is a traditional Japanese fish-shaped waffle-like pastry, ours is filled with sweet fillings such as red bean paste (called Anko), custard, chocolate, Nutella or fresh homemade apple spice. |
Taiyaki is a popular street food in Japan, often enjoyed as a warm, handheld snack! |
Are there vegan/vegetarian options? |
---|
For certain items yes, others no, but we try to have a vegan version of everything. |
What kind of plant milks are available? | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|
• Coconut Milk | • Almond Milk | • Oat Milk | • Hazelnut Milk | • Pea Milk (Tiptoh! Belgian, and ecological.) |
Are plant based milks free of charge? |
---|
Yes! We believe that your dietary restrictions should not cost you more money, besides, we want to encourage people to try different kinds of milks (such as tip-toh in oolong tea, or coconut milk in taro tea) to enhance the flavour of your drinks even further! |
Why is Soy Milk not available? |
---|
Because of the harmful environmental effects associated with soy cultivation, we have chosen not to include it as an option for our drinks. |
What is the difference between your Hong Kong style drink and the Taiwanese Classic? |
---|
The Hong Kong style drink, like the Taiwanese classic, is made with black tea, milk, and an optional sweetener. However, it differs by using condensed milk, which gives it a sweeter and creamier flavour compared to the Taiwanese version. Popular with sweet-tooths! |
